From Beaumont to Port Arthur, Jasper to Mid-County, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System’s shift to provide the best, most accessible and convenient health care, not only added more locations and high-tech services, but placed Associates in more than 104 positions.
“On June 29 when we announced CHRISTUS’s health care transformation for our 9-county region, we said we were committed to retaining and shifting positions at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas - St. Mary to other facilities within our organization,” said Paul Trevino, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System CEO. “And I am proud to say we did just that.”
Of the 142 CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System Associates affected by the transformation, more than 75 percent of Associates retained positions, with 106 offers made and 104 offers accepted. Thirty-six associates are taking part in WARN, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
“At CHRISTUS, we are family—and we hold in high regard the training, knowledge and expertise of our Associates,” said Wendy White, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System Vice President of Human Resources. “Our human resources team worked diligently with each of our Associates to find the right position within our organization. And we did so ahead of schedule, under the guidance of our core values; dignity, integrity, excellence, compassion and stewardship.
For those Associates who were not able to find positions within the CHRISTUS organization, or choose to retire during the transition, they are taking advantage of severance pay through WARN. “Through WARN, CHRISTUS provides 60 days of severance pay for employees wishing to move on to new employment,” said White.
“As CHRISTUS continues its mission to serve the Southeast Texas community, expanding from 27 locations to 40 over the next three years, you can expect many new jobs to follow,” said Trevino. “It’s always been our goal to be a leading employer in this region.”
