Dr. Navarro was born in El Paso, Texas, but has lived most of his life in San Antonio. Growing up he played multiple sports including football, lacrosse, basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, and track & field. He is a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School and cheers for the Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, and of course, the San Antonio Spurs.
After graduating from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine, San Antonio, Dr. Navarro completed a family medicine residency in Austin and a primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Navarro is dual board certified in primary pare sports medicine and family medicine. He treats acute and chronic sports medicine and orthopedic conditions, including sports-related concussions, joint and soft-tissue injections, overuse injuries, chronic disease counseling, and exercise medicine. Dr. Navarro has experience caring for athletes at all levels, from professionals to weekend warriors.
Dr. Navarro has published and presented nationally on topics including sports-related concussion, Sudden Cardiac Death, head and nasal injuries, the athlete pre-participation examination, performance-enhancing substances, and athletic issues in females. Additionally, he has a continued interest in improving community health and fitness, and increasing healthcare opportunities.
